Pollard set to become second highest point-scorer in Springbok history
Handré Pollard will in all likelihood eclipse Morne Steyn as the Springboks’ second highest points scorer of all time at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, 7 September.
Handré Pollard will surpass Morne Steyn in the Springboks’ pecking order for most points scored in Test history.
After he was benched in favour of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu for the first Test against the All Blacks at Ellis Park last week, Pollard earned selection into the Springbok starting lineup for the rematch at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
As it stands, Percy Montgomery is the Springboks‘ leading point-scorer with 893, which he accumulated over the course his illustrious 102-Test career.
Morne Steyn sits in second position on that list with 742 points in 68 Test appearances; with 734 to his name, Pollard trails Steyn by eight points and now needs just nine points to overtake his former teammate to move into second place on the Springbok all-time scorers’ list.
