SIYA KOLISI: THE SPRINGBOKS’ CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

What more can be said or written about Siya Kolisi? He is arguably already the greatest Springbok captain of all time, based largely on the fact that his inspirational leadership and abilities to unify the country stand just as proudly alongside his consistently impressive on field efforts.

When looking just at 2023, Kolisi’s story was something out of a rugby fairytale as he completed a quite miraculous comeback from a knee injury to recover just in time for the Rugby World Cup.

The flanker would go on to start eight Tests in 2023, showing no signs of being hindered by his knee injury, while regularly making a massive impact as a tireless defender and breakdown powerhouse.

When it came to his captaincy and leadership, Kolisi’s stature and presence went to the next level, while it ensured the Springboks never lost sight of their greater goal of uniting and playing for South Africa.

With 83 Test caps to his name, and a clearly stated desire to continue playing international rugby, he looks set to become another Springbok centurion.
