The Springbok Sevens side finished in a lowly ninth place (out of 12 teams) this past weekend in Vancouver, Canada.
The next leg will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles between 1-3 March.
The Blitzboks have been drawn in Pool A in Los Angeles alongside series leaders Argentina, second-placed Ireland and 11th-ranked Spain.
The South African side may well have to upset one of Argentina or Ireland in order to progress to the quarter-finals.
Following their worst finish of the season in Canada, as reported by The South African website, the Blitzboks dropped to sixth place in the overall standings after four (of eight) tournaments.
The top eight sides will retain core status for next year’s series.
Pool B in Los Angeles will consist of Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and the USA, will Pool C will see Canada, Fiji, France and Great Britain battle it out.
At the time of publishing, the fixtures have not been finalised.
