New Zealand lost their opening Rugby World Cup game against France but have since bounced back with commanding victories over Namibia, Italy, and Uruguay. They are now determined to secure their fourth RWC title. All Blacks coach Ian Foster has implemented a surprising decision, effectively ‘banning’ his successor, Robertson, from attending New Zealand games.

FOSTER OUT, RAZOR IN

New Zealand Rugby made a bold move earlier this year, appointing Scott ‘Razor’ Robertson as the next All Blacks coach in March, even before the team had played a test in the 2023 season. This decision marks a pivotal transition in New Zealand rugby leadership, signifying the end of Henry-Hansen-Foster train. Robertson’s impressive track record as the Crusaders coach, achieving an impressive ‘seven-pete’ with seven consecutive titles, made him the obvious choice, especially considering Foster’s inglorious record losses vs SA, Ireland and Argentina.

RAZOR BANNED

New Zealand have always been a rugby nation that puts the needs of the All Blacks of everything else. This might not be the case anymore as former All Blacks scrumhalf Justin Marshall stated in his chat on Superspot Marshall put it out there plain and simple: “Scott Robertson has been here in France. You would have seen him. He’s been floating around.”

“He’s not allowed to be at All Blacks games.” The concerns that led to this decision become apparent as Marshall explains, “They feel he’s too big a distraction to the current players.”

“All of a sudden they might want to chat to him or might want to impress him, so Ian Foster said to him…he’s not being allowed at All Blacks games.”

NZ VS IRELAND

In one of the two potentially tantalizing quarterfinal matchups (the other being SA vs France), there’s a chance for a historic showdown as three-time champions New Zealand could face off against the world’s top-ranked team, Ireland. The Irish will be looking to get a few monkeys off their back, such as their quarters hoodoo and having a 0-2 record vs the All Blacks in World Cup games. If Ireland can overcome Scotland in their last pool match, they will be on a 17-match winning streak (the record is 18 matches for a Tier 1 side). This means that if they beat the All Blacks, they will equal the record shared by New Zealand and England for the most consecutive wins in rugby

Would Scott Robertson distract the All Black players if he attended matches or inspire them to impress their future boss? Can the All Blacks stop the green frieght train in the quarters? Let us know in the comments below.
