Meanwhile, the defending champions Bulls moved into second sport after a comprehensive 35-21 victory over the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld.

In the day’s first match, Griquas embarrassed the woeful Lions, winning 49-17 in Kimberley.

Lions still looking for their first Currie Cup win

The Lions remain winless after five Currie Cup matches, while Griquas are in fourth place, albeit having played six matches.
