Mamelodi Sundowns v Baroka FC: Preview, head to head, teams, kick off and live stream
The chase for top spot is rather intense.
Mamelodi Sundowns have a golden opportunity to unseat log leaders Baroka FC as they pay host to them at Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday.
Pitso Mosimane’s men have the small advantage of games in hand in their chase for league glory, having missed a few rounds of PSL fixtures due to their commitments in the CAF Champions League. Despite that, they sit at fifth on the log with five wins in their nine matches so far, one more than the surprise leaders who have so far played 12 times.
Form guide
The Pretoria side come off a goalless draw against Chippa United, which halted a run of two straight wins that came after a shock defeat to AmaZulu.
Despite topping the log for the best part of the current league campaign, Baroka have not won a game since defeating Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida stadium way back in September. The five-match winless streak includes a home defeat to the side at the foot of the table, Bidvest Wits as well as four draws in what has been a common theme for pretty much every side in the top flight this season.
Head to head
History between these two sides is pretty brief, largely due to the fact that this is only the visitors second season in the top flight. Tuesday’s game is only their third clash.
Sundowns have the slight upperhand, having only won the only encounter which produced a result, triumphing 1-0 in the first meeting between these two sides.
The only other game ended in a 2-2 stalemate and was also played at Lucas Moripe.
