Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly doing the usual: battling for the signature of a common target. Who will capture Fawaaz Basadien?

FAWAAZ BASADIEN DEMAND

The 27-year-old Stellenbosch FC and Bafana Bafana left-back was the subject of a rejected transfer bid from Amakhosi in the spring, before Kaizer Chiefs settled for Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows.

According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi are still keen, most crucially after Cross suffered a serious injury last weekend. The outlet believes that Sundowns’ Terrence Mashego is facing an uncertain future and the club are keen on Basadien.

NASREDDINE NABI SLAMS MATCH OFFICIALS

Kaizer Chiefs had a chance to move up to third place in the Betway Premiership against Polokwane City. Nasreddine Nabi believes the officials ruined it.

According to Nabi Amakhosi did not deserve to lose against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba last weekend.

Rise and Shine opened the lead through Oswin Appollis on 17 minutes, before Mokibelo Ramabu bagged the three points on the 90th minute mark.

Speaking to the media after the game, Amakhosi‘s coach Nabi felt the match officials had a performance that cost his team.

‘It’s unacceptable. I don’t want to be given a gift. I don’t want a gift because I am sporty. I respect the opponents and the referees,” said Nabi via FARPost.

“You remember the game when [Edson] Castillo got injured? You remember Castillo was ruled out for six months, and I spoke against referees. They say I am against the referees. I’m not against the referees. I respect the referees because, without referees, you don’t have football.

“I stopped talking about referees. But today [Sunday]…I asked the PSL to include the analysis of our situation. Two penalties [denied], and I think my left-back is out,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor added.

“That foul deserved a minimum red card. It’s unacceptable. If I lost, I lost, no problem. But I don’t like to lose like that. I don’t like to lose because of referees.

“It’s not the first time. What do you want? Look at that action involving Bradley Cross when you get home. He could be out for two months.  But tell me what the FIFA rules say.

“The first rule for the referees is please protect the player. How many players are in hospital? It’s unacceptable. I am not talking to protect myself because I lost. No, I am happy. The solution is clear for me,” concluded Nabi.

WHAT DOES NASREDDINE NABI NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL WITH KAIZER CHIEFS?
