
ICC Champions Trophy: Proteas semi-final opponents REVEALED!
The Proteas will face a familiar foe in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy this coming week in Pakistan.

After qualifying for the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals for the first time in over 20 years, the Proteas now know their opponent.
The semi-final match-ups have been confirmed for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India will play Australia in the first semi-final on Tuesday, in Dubai, while New Zealand will play South Africa in the second semi-final on Wednesday, in Lahore.
How did the Proteas get to the ICC Champions Trophy semis?
South Africa finished top of Group B, with Australia finishing second – a point behind the Proteas. Temba Bavuma’s men defeated Afghanistan and England to top their group with five points. Their match with Australia was rained out without a ball being bowled.
India on the other hand, beat New Zealand in the last group stage match of the tournament, meaning they finish top of Group A, with New Zealand finishing second.
When are the semis played?
India will play Australia in the first semi-final at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday, 4 March.
South Africa will play New Zealand in the second semi-final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday 5 March. The Proteas last played in the ICC Champions Trophy final back in 1998, the same year they won the tournament.
