AmaZulu FC defeated Cape Town City 2-1 in the Betway Premiership on Sunday. Head coach Arthur Zwane praised his side after the victory but believes they can be a difficult team.

Elmo Kambindu and Nkosikhona Radebe found the back of the net to secure the 2-1 win for AmaZulu.

“We defended well and showed good tactical discipline,” Zwane told the club media after the win.

“However, we need to refine our decision-making in the final third. We had several opportunities in the first half where we could have punished them, but poor choices let us down.

“If we can correct that, we’ll be a very difficult team to beat. Credit to the players for their effort,” he stated.

This was Zwane’s first game in charge as the head coach after the departure of his former co-coach, Vusimuzi Vilakazi.

ARTHUR ZWANE KEEN TO MAINTAIN THE GOOD WORK

Before the game against Cape Town City, Zwane insisted that despite the departure of Vilakazi, the team must move on and build from their foundations.

“Losing one of our important members, it is always going to be critical for any organisation,” he stated.

“At the end of the day, we must carry on with work. He played a huge role and did very well, and we all know Coach Kanu.

“He has been in the league for quite some time. The good thing about it, not a good thing that he has left, what I’m trying to say is, he has left something behind in terms of understanding because we worked together very well.

“We were always on the same boat in terms of what we wanted to achieve at the club. The good thing as well is having someone like coach Sboniso Vilakazi (assistant coach); he is equal to the task.

“So, I think on that department, we are still covered in terms of the manpower. But for now, it is about focusing more on the games that upcoming for us because it’s going to be a test.”

MANGETHE BEGINS ON THE RIGHT FOOT

Many questioned how Arthur Zwane would kick off his tenure as the head coach of Usuthu, and he has answered those doubters. AmaZulu are currently 5th on the Betway Premiership table, and they will look to consolidate their position in the top 8 as the season progresses.

Usuthu will take on SuperSport United in their next game on Wednesday evening.

WILL ARTHUR ZWANE MAKE A SUCCESS OF HIS ROLE?

Arthur Zwane has the experience required to succeed at Usuthu. Unlike at Kaizer Chiefs, there is much less pressure at AmaZulu, so he can focus on building the team and not delivering trophies.
