Zizi Kodwa maintains innocence as corruption case is postponed

Despite being charged with corruption, former Sport, Arts and Culture minister Zizi Kodwa maintains that he is innocent.

The corruption case against former Sport, Arts and Culture minister Zizi Kodwa has been postponed to 24 October.

Kodwa and his co-accused Jehan Mackay returned to the Johannesburg Specialised Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Thursday, 3 October. The two were arrested by the Hawks on 5 June and were released on R30 000 bail each.

ZIZI KODWA’S CORRUPTION CASE POSTPONED

The two face charges of Contravention of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, emanating from the period between April 2015 to February 2016, when Kodwa was African National Congress (ANC) national spokesperson.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Kodwa received direct payments and luxury accommodation worth over R1,6 million paid by and/or facilitated by Mackay as gratifications for his interventions in government procurement processes to advance the interests of Mackay, TSS and EOH.
