Westville Mall robbery: 10 suspects hit jewellery shop in Durban [watch]
The suspects allegedly held staff at gunpoint while robbing the jewellery shop at Westville Mall on Thursday morning.
The KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that took place at a jewellery shop in Westville Mall, Durban on Thursday morning, 30 June.
WESTVILLE JEWELLERY SHOP ROBBED
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said 10 suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery and a box of vouchers after robbing the shop.
The suspects allegedly held the store’s employees at gunpoint during the robbery, which was captured on video by onlookers and subsequently went viral on social media.
The suspects reportedly fled in the direction of KwaDabeka. No shots were fired during the robbery, said the police spokesperson.
The Westville police station is investigating a case of robbery.
A 78-second clip of the alleged robbery shows the suspects stealing from a window display before fleeing the scene. After the suspects leave, a security guard emerges from the shop and runs down the escalator.
