
Two suspected drug mules arrested at OR Tambo, cocaine worth R1m seized
A 24-year-old Brazilian man and a 51-year-old South African woman were arrested a the OR Tambo for possession of drugs worth R1m.

Two suspected drug mules were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday for possession of drugs valued at R1.2 million.
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Amanda van Wyk said the duo were on the same flight from São Paulo, Brazil.
A 24-year-old Brazilian man and a 51-year-old South African woman were intercepted by police upon arrival at the airport.
“Two suspected drug mules arrested at OR Tambo International Airport. A Brazilian man (24) and a South African woman (51), who had travelled on the same flight from São Paulo, Brazil, were intercepted upon their arrival on Thursday, 20/03. Their arrest led to the seizure of cocaine valued at over R1 million,” van Wyk said.
A medical examination confirmed that both suspects had ingested “bullets” suspected to contain cocaine. “In addition, police discovered and confiscated more cocaine concealed inside the suspects’ luggage,” police added.

On Friday, police also intercepted a shipment of white powder, suspected to be heroin, worth over R200 000. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shipment was destined for London, United Kingdom.
