As the year draws to a close, people often recline to their personal lives, taking trips and family vacations and enjoying the outdoors. For others, the hard work of changing the fabric of the country for the better good does not stop. Therefore, we will take a look at all the good news stories in South Africa you may have missed out on.

There is enough distraction in the news to keep us away from the real, impactful stories about how ordinary South Africans are shaping the society for the good.

MyCiti security guard helps deliver healthy baby girl in a bus

Anele Dansazele may not be remembered by many, but for the woman whose water broke in the bus, she will forever be grateful for his bravery.

Dansazele was enduring a dangerous shift as a MyCiti security guard when out of the blue, he was met with a situation nobody could have imagined.

” I noticed the lady coming from the MyCiTi bus and asked her what’s wrong. She said she was ready to give birth and was waiting for an ambulance, but the ambulance took so long.

“I tried to help her. I took the baby out. Everything was in order. It was my first time doing this.”

Dansazele stated.

The baby was safely delivered and it was a beautiful baby girl. Whoever meets Dansazele in future, give that man a Bell’s.

Domestic worker becomes graduate thanks to Eleanor De Villiers

Ntombizodwa Merriam Mahlangu’s story moved the former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela to make her an example of what she defines as a role model.

According to a Good Things Guy article (written by Brent Lindeque), Mahlangu, after years of being a domestic worker, was given the opportunity to further her education by her employer, Eleanor De Villiers.

Mahlangu had nothing but praise for De Villiers, stating that if it weren’t for her, she would probably not be a Bachelor of Arts graduate.

“It’s chooseday and I choose you mother. I was your employee at first; but later became your daughter whom you loved and supported no matter the circumstances.

If it wasn’t for your financial assistance on my first course that opened doors for me, I wouldn’t be holding this BA degree. I wish the whole world could know about your kindness and the difference you’ve made in my life. You are dearly loved,”

Mahlangu wrote in a post.

After her graduation post went viral, Madonsela picked it up and shared it on Twitter. We are sure that this endorsement will hold many blessings for Mahlangu and her bright future.

Nathanael Stahler thanks Door of Hope for giving him a second chance at life

The young Nathanael Stahler was just eight-weeks-old when he was abandoned by his family, this is according to a Good Things Guy article (written by Tyler Leigh Vivier).

This was in 1999. Fast forward 19 years later and Nate is well on his way to pursuing his dreams. Door of Hope had just started in 1999. If anytihng, one can only speculate that they had not been prepared for a fourth baby to look after.

As risky as it may have been, the decision to keep him paid off and Nate understands this. It is evident in the letter he wrote to the organisation that took him in.

In it, Nate thanks Door of Hope for having enough love in their heart to take him in when he ws abandoned.

Nate spent something close to a year with Door of Hope before he and his brother were adopted by an American family.
