SHOCKING: Armed robber arrested inside Home Affairs
An armed robber was apprehended inside a Home Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal after committing a crime this morning
An armed robber ran out of luck this morning, Saturday, 18 June after running into a Department of Home Affairs building in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
The armed robber is suspected to have entered the busy building to disguise as a customers, in a bid to evade arrest.
However, according to a statement released by a prominent security company in the capital, Mi7 National Group, the suspect was pursued after robbing a pedestrian.
“While on regular patrols in the Pietermaritzburg CBD, a Mi7 Reaction Officer was flagged down by a police officer outside the Department of Home Affairs on Church Street.”
“The police officer said that a male suspect, allegedly armed, is believed to have robbed a pedestrian before running into Home Affairs, the statement read.

The report continued that their Reaction Officer immediately assisted the police officer in tracking down the suspect.
“The pair entered the building and informed guarding personnel on site of the incident, before combing through the building for the suspect – who they had a description of.”
ARMED ROBBER FOUND INSIDE HOME AFFAIRS
After a thorough search, the armed robber was eventually found and apprehended.
In his possession was gas gun modelled after a CZ75.
Mi7 added that the matter was handed over to the police for further investigation.
“As management, we applaud the collaborative effort between the police and our reaction officers which led to the arrest. It is only by working together can we root out crime in our communities,” Mi7 management reacted.
Proving the rifeness of crime in Pietermaritzburg, News24 recently reported about a woman who was attacked at the gate of her house and stabbed in what is believed to be an attempted robbery. The incident is said to have happened at around 5 am. Pietermaritzburg police spokesperson Sergeant Sifiso Gwala told News24 that the woman was stabbed as she was taking out the rubbish.
