Expelled ‘drug-dealing’ pupil stabbed to death outside school
A pupil from Ekwazini High School in Umlazi who supported his family through selling drugs was allegedly stabbed to death.
An 18-year-old pupil at Ekwazini High School in Umlazi, G section was allegedly stabbed to death over turf wars on Monday, 19 September 2022.
Samkelo Ngiba who was reportedly supporting his family from money he made from selling weed and a drug called Xanax had been expelled from the school the week before.

Samkelo Ngiba was allegedly stabbed three times in the neck outside the school.
The pupilβs aunt Nomathemba Mkhize said other pupils came to let them know what had happened.
Mkhize said when they arrived at the school he was lying on his side. She reportedly tried to wake him up but the 18-year-old who was selling the drugs for someone else looked at her until he passed on.

βI kept pleading with him to wake up. When the officials turned him around I saw his wound. I ran away screaming. Police better catch that boy whoever he is,β she told Daily News.Β
The deceased is said to have washed his uniform over the weekend with the hope that once the family pleaded with the principal, he would be allowed to return to school.
The aunt described the late pupil as a good and respectful child who made sure that his family was well taken care of by proceeds from the drugs he sold.
βHe sold drugs to support us because the situation at home was bad. Whenever he got money he would buy food for the house and make sure that no one was lacking anything,β she said.
KZN Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the suspect fled the scene on foot.
“The motive the killing is unknown. A case of murder was opened at Umlazi police station for investigation,” she said.
