Rain to bring much-needed relief in Gauteng after heatwave
Rain is expected this week in Gauteng and other provinces as the heatwave makes way but scorching temperatures could make a return.
Rain could bring some much-needed relief in Gauteng and surrounding areas following an intense heatwave this weekend.
Starting from Tuesday, temperatures will gradually drop into the low 20s. Pretoria will still be hot on Sunday with temperatures reaching a high of 33°C and clear sunny conditions. No rain is predicted for Monday, with minimum temperatures of 18°C and a maximum of 34°C. However, starting Tuesday, temperatures will plummet, reaching 24°C.
In Johannesburg, a high of 32°C is expected on Sunday. Rain is predicted on Tuesday as the heatwave makes way. The scorching heat will return around Friday with temperatures once again reaching the high 30s.
City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has urged residents to exercise extreme during the heatwave.

“Extremely hot temperatures expected from Friday in most parts of the City of Johannesburg,” Mulaudzi said as per The Citizen.
“Residents are urged to stay hydrated, drink lots of water, try and avoid direct sunlight especially between 11am and 3pm in the afternoon.
“Those who are working directly in sunlight, take regular breaks and drinks lots of water,” he said.
