EFF SAYS MPHO MOROLANE WAS NO LONGER ITS MEMBER
On Wednesday, Morolane said that he was leaving the party “to pursue a different path”.
“It is with great difficulty that one has decided to step away from a decade-long affiliation with the Economic Freedom Fighters. My service to the organisation has been with humility, integrity and respect,” he said.
On Thursday, EFF secretary-general Marshall Dlamini wrote to Morolane to inform him that his letter is misdirected as he is not a member of the party and he does not appear on the organisation’s membership system.
“Therefore, we advise you that you forward the letter to the relevant party as this correspondence does not apply to the EFF. The organisation wishes you luck as you trace your political home,” Dlamini said in the letter.
BONGANI BALOYI JOINS MK PARTY
Meanwhile, former Democratic Alliance (DA) and ActionSA member Bongani Baloyi is the latest politician to join the MK Party.
The former Midvaal mayor joins a list of politicians who have opted for the Zuma-led party such as former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, former Johannesburg council speaker Colleen Makhubele and Mzwanele Manyi.
Most recently, former heads of state-owned entities Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, and Lucky Montana who are charged with corruption for their alleged involvement in State Capture were sworn in as MK Party members of Parliament.
The party reportedly fired 18 MPs to make way for Zuma’s former allies. The fired MPs are challenging their dismissal in the Western Cape High Court.
