SAPS were called to disperse the gathering, after incriminating footage was uploaded online. The videos, which show dozens of people dancing like coronavirus isn’t watching, have spread like wildfire on social media. Both the event organisers and the customers were in violation of several restrictions, including:

  • Breaking the curfew, which is in place between 22:00 – 4:00.
  • Organising a gathering of more than 50 people in one place.
  • Opening a nightclub, despite specific rules against these venues.
  • No enforcement of social distancing or mask-wearing.
