KZN FEMALE REPORTEDLY BURNT BY CHEMICAL
According to RUSA, the caller said upon approaching the woman she informed her that she had a bottle of chemical used to clean toilets in her handbag.
During her commute in the taxi, the bottle opened and emptied in her backpack. The unknown chemical burnt through her bag. Her jacket, pants and takkies were also burnt. She ditched her belongings on the roadside and walked in the direction of the M25. The caller could not confirm if the female required medical attention.
Reaction Officers were then dispatched to Ntuzuma where they met with the caller. She pointed out the damaged clothing and backpack to RUSA members before informing them that she lost sight of the woman.
“Reaction Officers patrolled the M25 in search of the female however she could not be located.
“Several medical facilities in the area were contacted however no reports of a person who had suffered chemical burns had sought medical assistance from any of the institutions.”

While many felt sorry for the female following the incident, some were convinced that it is one of the chemicals sold in taxi ranks for pit toilets as they shared their first hand experience too.
