BREAKDOWNS
Eskom said breakdowns currently amount to 16 524MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 4 376 MW.
The power utility said over the last 24 hours, a generating unit each at Hendrina, Kriel and Medupi power stations were returned to service. In the same period, a generating unit each at Arnot and Medupi power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.
“The delays in returning to service a generating unit each at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Tutuka power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints,” Eskom added.
