‘He is not here’: Malema breaks silence on Mbuyiseni Ndlozi
Where is Mbuyiseni Ndlozi? EFF leader Julius Malema says whoever isn’t at the party’s 3rd NPA was not meant to be there.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says it is not in their interest to entertain “nonsense” about former spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s absence in the ongoing National People’s Assembly.
The Red Berets are holding their three-day elective conference at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.
HAS MBUYISENI NDLOZI BEEN SUSPENDED FROM THE EFF?
In November, reports surfaced that Ndlozi was banned from attending all EFF political activities. These include meetings of the party’s War Council, which met weekly, and its Central Command Team (CCT).
Ndlozi was reportedly placed on leave of absence, which prevented him from performing his duties as a member of parliament.
In addition, the party’s former spokesperson was reportedly one of the members who knew about Malema’s former deputy and now uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu‘s departure.
On Saturday, 14 December, Malema, who previously likened the reports about Ndlozi to shebeen gossip, told journalists that 90% of the people who were expected to be at the ongoing NPA were there, and whoever wasn’t wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place.
Malema said the EFF will not be reduced to an individual. The conference will go on without Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, as is the case.
“He is not here. I heard people saying he is here he’s doing this…he’s not here! It’s not in our interest to entertain such nonsense. We’re dealing with political issues here not egoism, not people who think they are bigger than this organisation. It will show them once again that it is bigger than all of them.
“So, as a matter of principle and policy position, we’re no longer going to answer any nonsense about Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. Never! This matter is closed,” he said.
FORMER SPOKESPERSON NOWHERE TO BE SEEN
Ndlozi was nowhere to be seen in the build-up to the elective conference, and he was also absent at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Soweto campus, where delegates registered for the conference. He was also nowhere to be seen at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.
On Friday, 13 December, EFF secretary-general Dlamini told the media that Ndlozi has not communicated with the party about whether he is available for a leadership position in the third NPA.
“We will not reduce our conference to an individual. We’re here now on the third NPA. This NPA will prove that no one is bigger than this organisation. This is an organisation of members of the EFF; you’re a member, and you know what is expected. So, I’m not going to entertain any name. I’ve got 2500 delegates here; it starts and ends there,” Dlamini said.
