This follows the escalation from Stage 3 to Stage 6 load shedding over the weekend due to the loss of 10 units at key power stations.
Eskom said in a X post that it has now successfully recovered enough generation capacity and made significant process in replenshing emergency reserves.
“Although overnight replenishment is still needed, these developments will result in a stable power system,” it said.
Ongoing planned maintenance stands at 6,660MW, in alignment with the group’s summer period maintenance strategy.
“This increased level of maintenance is necessary to prepare for winter to further improve reliability and meet license and regulatory requirements,” it said.
Eskom will communicate again on Friday, 28 February – or as soon as any significant changes occur.
