Former Kaizer Chiefs official to appear in court for fraud
The former Kaizer Chiefs PRO Louis Shakoane worked for the club from 1982, entertaining the crowd, especially before the games.
Former Kaizer Chiefs Football Club Public Relations Officer (PRO) Louis Shakoane will be making his first court appearance tomorrow following his arrest for fraud.
POLICE CONFIRM THE ARREST OF THE WELL-KNOWN FIGURE
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the arrest of the former Kaizer Chiefs official without naming him.
Commenting on behalf of the police, spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale confirmed that a 74-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday 16 May 2023 at a funeral in Mamelodi, Pretoria following an execution of a warrant of arrest in relation to an ongoing investigation into an unregistered investment scheme.
It is reported that Louis Shakoane was attending the funeral of Alex Shakoane today and was arrested shortly after speaking at the funeral.
“The suspect is alleged to have benefitted from the proceeds of the unregistered investment company known as Undercover Billionaires.”

“He is reported to have participated in the presentations aimed at enticing potential investors with a promise of high returns. The amount of investments tendered is approximately R100 million,” added Mogale.
SHAKOANE NOT THE ONLY MEMBER OF HIS FAMILY ARRESTED FOR FRAUD
It is further reported that Louis Shakoane’s son was also arrested in connection with fraud, theft and money laundering.
“The second suspect, 34-year-old was arrested in a residence at Kempton Park. The pair will appear in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court tomorrow, 17 May 2023 facing charges of fraud, theft, money laundering and contravention of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act,” said Colonel Mogale.

According to a Kaizer Chiefs newsletter, Louis Shakoane became Chiefs’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) in 1982, entertaining the crowd, especially before the games, dressed in a tracksuit. He would be seen sprinting along the sidelines, which soon got him nicknamed ‘Sprinter’. For his love and dedication to the club, Chairman, Kaizer Motaung, honoured Shakoane with the 2017 Chairman’s Award.
