Eskom has extended the deadline for prepaid electricity customers who have bypassed and damaged meters.

Initially, Eskom said all prepaid electricity customers must update their meters by Sunday, 24 November, as required by the Standard Transfer Specification Association (STSA) and the deadline would not be extended.

ESKOM EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR PREPAID ELECTRICITY CUSTOMERS

The power utility said customers with no meters, damaged or bypassed meters must only visit their offices on Monday, 25 November, and will be assisted accordingly.

“The offices are open to only buying customers this weekend. Zero buyers and those with bypassed meters are requested to go to the Eskom legal vending sites with their meter numbers and purchase electricity.

“The vending agents will issue prepaid electricity customers their Key Change Tokens (KCT) to make their meters KRN2 compliant. This action of purchasing credit tokens must be done and completed before the closing date, Sunday, 24 November 2024, to trigger the activation of the meter to the KRN2 mode,” the power utility said.

Further, Eskom said once the meter has been activated by the purchase of electricity, the customer can then visit the Eskom sites to complete the conversion process from Monday, 25 November, onwards.
