Diepsloot: Sting operation results in arrests of 27 undocumented migrants
The SAPS conducted an overnight sting operation in Diepsloot on Thursday, 7 April, which resulted in 27 more arrests for the week.
The South African Police Services (SAPS) made a number of arrests in Diepsloot. According to the SAPS, 27 undocumented migrants were nabbed during an overnight sting operation. The sting operation occurred on Thursday, 7 April.
SAPS arrest more than 50 in Diepsloot in one week
These 27 arrests take the number of people who were apprehended over the past week to more than 50. SAPS are continuing to investigate the latest mob violence in the area where one man was killed.

Members of the Diepsloot community have been protesting. They are demanding that there be more police presence in the area due to rampant crime. Athlenda Mathe of the SAPS said the SAPS are pleading with community members to work with the SAPS.
Police ask the community to work with them
The police want to ensure arrests of criminal elements in Diepsloot.
“We continue to plead and urge communities of Diepsloot to work together with the South African Police Service in ensuring the speedy arrest of criminal elements which have engulfed the area,” said Mathe.

Minister of Police Bheki Cele along with Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi are expected to visit Diepsloot on Friday, 8 April, reports EWN.
Elvis Nyathi: Police still searching for suspects in man’s killing
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng has confirmed that a manhunt is underway for suspects in the gruesome killing of Elvis Nyathi. The Zimbabwean national was savagely killed by a mob that chased him and set him alight.
His family claims the 44-year-old had just returned home when a group of people in his neighbourhood knocked on doors, demanding to see ID documents from residents. Nyathi them ran out of his shack, but the angry mob caught him and beat him up.
Distraught members of Nyathi’s family were seen on live television on Thursday morning, 7 April 2022, cleaning up his blood at the scene of his killing.
