Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Zizi Kodwa has received mixed reactions from South Africans

South African President appointed Kodwa as Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture of the Republic of South Africa on the 6 March of 2023.

The decision did not seat well with many.

Zizi Kodwa’s capabilities and skills were questioned as to whether he is fit to hold the position of Ministries of Sports and Culture.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ZIZI KODWA:

  • He was the Deputy Minister of State Security from 30 May 2019 to 6 March 2023.
  • He served as the Spokesperson of the ANC from 2014 to 2017.
  • Holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Development Studies from the University of the Western Cape.
  • He was a Special Advisor to the President of the Republic on Communications.
  • He served as the National Spokesperson of the African National Congress. between May 2014 and 2017.

“He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the South African International Marketing Council.

“He participated in Student Representative Councils and in more militant organisations such as the Congress of South African Students, which was banned and later reincarnated as the Township Student Congress. At university, he became a member of the South African Students Congress and also served as an SRC President.
As a member of the ANC Youth League, Mr Kodwa worked in different capacities in the League’s Western Cape branch and was later elected to the organization’s National Executive Committee. He was a member of the ANC Youth League until the ANC’s national congress in Mangaung in 2012,” South African Government.
