Ex-public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is the latest high-profile politician to dump the EFF. Will she join her husband at MK Party?
Former public protector advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has dumped the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to “spend time with family”.

BUSISIWE MKHWEBANE DITCHES EFF
In a statement released on Wednesday, 16 October, Mkhwebane bid farewell to the Red Berets to rest and spend time with her family.
“In my time of need, you fighters extended a helping hand, bvecoming a refuge for me over the past 12 months. Your unwavering support has been a beacon of hope, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
“Now, it is time for me to focus on spending cherished moments with my family. Thank you for standing by me,” she said.
Following EFF co-founder Floyd Shivambu’s resignation in August, Mkhwebane was among the first members to dispel rumours that she had quit the party.
“Rumours by SABC News about me leaving EFF are fake news. I will never betray the fighters – my political home,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.
DO YOU THINK THE FORMER PUBLIC PROTECTOR WILL JOIN HER HUSBAND AT MK PARTY?
Mkhwebane’s husband David Skosana is an uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party member of Parliament and made his debut in the seventh administration.
This is not the first time husband and wife have both served in Parliament at the same time. Former Basic Education Minister Angie and her husband Mathole Motshekga also served in the National Assembly at the same time.
According to EWN, during Mkhwebane’s impeachment inquiry, she alleged long-standing Democratic Alliance (DA) MPs Natasha Mazzone and Kevin Mileham had not declared their marriage when Mazzone submitted the motion that led to the inquiry, and Mileham served on the committee deciding on her impeachment.
