SASSA grant recipients who have not been able to transition to the new black PostBank card will still be able to collect their grants from the South African Post Office and withdraw cash at retailers’ till points until May.

Recipients had until last Thursday to switch to the new card, following an extension from the initial deadline at the end of February. Those who do not have the new black PostBank card are advised against using their old gold SASSA cards at retailers or ATMs.

In a statement, SASSA mentioned that the gold cards will be deactivated, and beneficiaries who have not yet transitioned to the new PostBank black cards may experience disruptions when attempting to make transactions with their cards.

SASSA advice recipients to get new black Postbank card

“If you happen to not have a chance to get your PostBank black card, don’t panic. You will still have access to your funds using the post office, and all we will need from you is your ID,” PostBank Chief Commercial Executive Thami Cele.

“Don’t got to the ATM, don’t use any of the retailers if you have not collected your PostBank black card, don’t utilize your old card because it certainly may be swallowed by the ATM or it will reject to give you any funds or even the retailer,” he said as per SABC News.

PostBank announced that SASSA recipients will still be able to collect their grants from the South African Post Office and withdraw cash from retailers’ tills during April and May. SASSA has appealed to their beneficiaries to visit Postbank sites to get their new black card before June.
