SARS issues warning over new impersonation scam
The South African Revenue Service has warned the public regarding fraudsters sending emails to taxpayers pretending to be SARS employees.
The South African Revenue Service has warned the public regarding fraudsters sending emails to unsuspecting taxpayers and businesses pretending to be SARS employees.
The emails typically contain an attachment with a link where one can ‘settle an outstanding balance or debt’.
A real SARS employee’s name and contact details appear on the email signature, but if you look closely the email domain is different.
SARS reminded Mzansi that if in doubt, to always check its Scams examples webpage.
