Severe thunderstorms to hit these THREE provinces

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 2 weather warning for severe thunderstorms in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The warning is valid from 12:00 on Monday until 22:00.

Severe thunderstorms for Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo

The weather warning key indicates there is a high likelihood of minor weather-based impacts. There is a line of slow-moving thunderstorms over southeastern Limpopo and the western parts of Mpumalanga.

“There is also a possibility of some small hail accompanying the thunderstorms,” said the weather service in a statement.

The potential impact the slow-moving severe storms include:

• Localised flooding of low-lying roads.
• Localised flooding of low-lying areas.
• Localised power surges due to excessive lightning.
• Heavy rainfall.
• Small hail.
• Poor driving conditions due to poor visibility.
