Biokineticist kidnapping: Two arrested, RANSOM demanded – still no sign of Riana
Kidnapped Riana Pretorius is still missing despite the arrest of two people and a ransom of R2 million demanded. Here is the latest
The Hawks said not only have two people been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Riana Pretorius but a ransom of two million has also been demanded.
TWO WERE ARRESTED, AND R2 MILLION RANSON DEMANDED
The Hawks are now searching for the third suspect who could possibly lead them to Riana, who is STILL missing.
Hawks Spokesperson for the Eastern Cape, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, said they are following up on all possible leads.
RIANA PRETORIUS WAS KIDNAPPED OUTSIDE THE MEDICAL PRACTICE
The young biokineticist, Riana Pretorius (30), was kidnapped outside a medical practice in Newton Park in Gqeberha on Thursday morning. She was allegedly forced into a white Toyota Corolla by armed men.

SHE WAS FORCED INTO A WHITE TOYOTA COROLLA BY ARMED MEN

Mgolodela said the Hawks managed to arrest an armed man on Thursday afternoon and have the car that was used, but there is still no sign of Riana.

Her family and friends have asked the public to continue to pray for her safe return.

LAST YEAR A MOTHER WAS KIDNAPPED IN FRONT OF HER PLACE OF WORK
Last year, a Johannesburg mother was grabbed, pushed into silver Mercedes, and kidnapped as she was entering her place of work in Johannesburg.

Anesha was kidnapped on June 28, at around 6:15 am, while entering Pepe’s Bakery, Lenasia South. She was grabbed, pushed into a silver Mercedes, and kidnapped as she was entering her place of work.
The motive for her kidnapping is believed to have been for ransom, but police nor family members could confirm this yet.
KIDNAPPINGS IN SOUTH AFRICA ARE RAPIDLY INCREASING
Kidnappings surged in South Africa in the second quarter of the year, with over 4 000 cases reported to the police between July and September 2022.
The rate doubled compared to the same period last year. Total contact crimes increased by 18.5% during this period under review.
