Three family members – aged in their fifties – were allegedly shot and killed by two unknown men in Khayelitsha, Cape Town on Sunday night, 22 May. Western Cape Organised Crime Detectives are pursuing several leads.

POLICE SEARCH FOR GUNMEN WHO ALLEGEDLY KILLED SIBLINGS

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said Lingelethu officers were called to Lindelwa Street in Ekuphumleni, Khayelitsha, where they found the dead bodies of two men and a woman. They all had gunshot wounds.

“It is alleged that two armed men in dark clothes stormed the home at 20:10 and fired several shots,” said Potelwa.

The victims were aged 51, 53 and 57, respectively. The police’s preliminary investigation revealed that they were siblings.

No arrests have been made thus, however, detectives are pursuing several leads as part of the investigation, said Potelwa.

Earlier this month, on Sunday, 8 May, six people were shot and killed in Site C, Khayelitsha. Prior to that, five people were allegedly killed in Endlovini on 14 March and a week later – 20 March – six people were fatally shot in Enkanini.

Arrests have been made in connection with the March mass shootings. The suspect in the Enkanini matter was recently granted R800 bail while police only managed to track down all the wanted suspects allegedly connected to the Endlovini shooting this month.
