MEN IN UNIFORM – WHAT’S THE BIG ATTRACTION?
It’s no secret that many women are attracted to men who wear uniforms in their places of work.
According to a study by the University of Southampton, this is because women equate the imagery to the concept of heroism.
“Women were more likely to find a soldier attractive and were more inclined to date him if he had been awarded a medal for bravery in combat,” reads the research.
Psychology professor Midge Wilson told PsychCentral that a man dressed as such delves into the female’s psyche.
He said: “A man in uniform taps into… father figures, heroism, protection and power,” he said. “He also suggests a chance for excitement and adventure.”
According to an article in the Times of India, women have a “gravitational pull” on servicemen – for example, police officers or firefighters.
This is because it “relays a sense of comfort and security, along with the notion that men dressed in this attire exhibit chivalry.”
