Nando’s is keeping their fire burning with the roast of Bafana Bafana’s Afcon opponent Cape Verde and SA’s Cape Independence movement…

Nando’s is back with another spicy roast, and this one involves not only Bafana Bafana’s Afcon opponents Cape Verde, but a dig at South Africa’s Cape Independence bid too.
The popular fast food chain posted their cheeky tweet in the lead-up to the Afcon quarter-final clash on Saturday, 3 February. The game will be broadcast at 22:00 on SABC Sport and the SABC 1 channel.

NANDO’S TROLLS CAPE VERDE AND CAPE INDEPENDENCE?
Taking to their X account, Nando’s tweeted: “Honourable members of Bafana, make this quarter Xtra Hot.”
They also tweeted a message which read: “We don’t recognise this Cape.”

While the reference to “Cape” was likely linked to SA’s opponents, Cape Verde, many followers took it as a dig at a political movemen that seeks to break away the Western Cape from the rest of South Africa.

ZIZI KODWA WISHES BAFANA WELL
Meanwhile, Minister of Sport Zizi Kodwa has also sent his best wishes to the SA squad.
In a phone call likely to coach Hugo Boss, Kodwa said in a video clip: “I know the boys are ready for this…the whole country is not sleeping.”
He captioned the clip: “The team is ready to do their best and to make the nation proud once again. The whole nation is behind you, Bafana!”
