South Africa’s favourite low-cost carrier is supporting local artists once again.

The airline is displaying vibrant designs from South African artists inside the cabins on several of its planes.

The airline appears to be following in the footsteps of Lift Airline which often treats passengers with special inflight performances.

Lift also surprises passengers with expected events that showcase the work of local artists.

SUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISTS

This is the second time the airline is running this artist campaign, which started in 2022 as a way to support local artists.

“We are thrilled to be bringing back this campaign. Art is a powerful thing, it has the potential to communicate a message or feeling regardless of the language you speak or the culture you come from,” Kirby Gordon, COO of FlySafair said, per Tourism Update.

LOVE FOR FLYING

The airline is trying out various ways to help passengers cultivate a love for flying after the pandemic, as well as promoting local talents.

“When we first launched this project, flying was extremely stressful for many of our customers due to the forced proximity it required. Thankfully, that is now behind us, but what better way to share our love of flying and South Africa than through art.” Gordon said.

ARTWORK IN FLYSAFAIR CABINS

Look out for stunning local art when you next fly with FlySafair. The designs of six local artists have been chosen by the airline.

These have been converted into aircraft-approved materials and are being placed in the interiors of selected FlySafair aircraft.

FLYSAFAIR’S GROWTH

FlySafair has been expanding since 2020 when opportunities allowed the airline to scale up its flight schedule.

The airline has launched scheduled flights on many new routes including to neighbouring countries.

Last year FlySafair launched flights to Maputo, Livingstone, Harare and Victoria Falls.

The airline was also named the world’s most on-time budget carrier in a recent survey.
