Over the years many trends have gone viral on social media. When people aren’t coming up with new ways to lose weight, they’re seemingly finding ways to apply make-up better or faster. The latest bizarre makeup trend to hit social media app TikTok is one that sees influencers use lube as a makeup primer.

Lube as primer? Influencers start a bizarre new makeup trend

If you’re a make-up person you know that makeup primer is applied before foundation and all that other good stuff to make sure everything stays perfectly in place. A good makeup primer also ensures that your make-up look lasts longer and can be applied smoothly.

TikTok influencers have now come out in numbers to say that they have found the perfect primer – lube. In various clips, TikTokers can be seen applying some lube to their faces before executing really lovely face beats, and naturally, this has started an instant trend that has seen a number of people give lube a try.

In one viral video, makeup influencer Luke Ketuhok uses Durex lube as a base for his makeup while content creator Sean Anthony advises people to mix some lube directly with the foundation for a flawless effect.

The skin doctor says it is not a very good idea

According to Nylon.com, Dr. Robert Finney, a registered dermatologist, has strongly warned social media users from using lubricant as a make-up primer for a number of reasons.

“There are plenty of good primer options designed specifically with your face in mind,” he says. “Durex Play 2-in-1 has Castor Oil in it. Castor oil can clog pores and lead to breakouts,” he explains.

“While not everyone is breakout-prone and may tolerate this just fine, I still wouldn’t recommend it,” he adds.
