South African celebrities have continued their winning streak after Makhadzi and Sbahle Msizi bagged Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards over the weekend
The stars join the likes of Black Coffee, Thuso Mbedu and Trevor Noah who’ve all waved the SA flag a bit higher in recent weeks.
Whilst the actual awards ceremony took place on 9 April, the list of winners were recently made public after the recorded show was given an African host. Lerai Rakoditsoe of SA helmed the local broadcast of the awards show on Wednesday 13 March on Dstv channel 308.
MORE WINS FOR SA AT NICKELODEON KIDS CHOICE AWARDS
Taking to her social media accounts, Makhadzi celebrated her Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award win in the “Best African Star” category.
The Limpopo-born star competed against the likes of muso’s Focalistic, Major League JDs and Tem.
“I’m very happy, I was hoping to win this and God answered my prayers. I’m speechless”, the singer said in her acceptance speech.
Sbahle – the four-year-old daughter of actress and presenter Ntando Duma – won the Nickelodeon category of “Best Kid Influencer”
Celebrating the win on her Instagram, Ntando wrote: “I’m so emotional. My baby WON! I’m such a proud mother.
“Side Note: I’m the MOTHER of an international award winner please, so talk to me nice and address me correctly. A big shout to my phenomenal sisters and my mothers for helping me raise this little girl of mine to an incredible dynamite she now is”.
