Mark Pilgrim may be in the midst of his cancer treatment – but he has something motivating him to get well fast – his impending vows to his partner Adrienne Watkins.
The veteran radio presenter popped the question to his now-fiancée on New Year’s Eve. This, after he was discharged from hospital after more than 60 days following life-saving surgeries.
Almost a year ago, Mark Pilgrim revealed he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The Hot 102.7 presenter is currently undergoing intensive treatment, including a combination of radiation, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy, and takes a variety of non-prescription meds like medicinal mushrooms and vitamins.
He also regularly has his lungs drained and is set to begin a new Dutch drug as part of his targeted therapy.

MARK PILGRIM REFLECTS ON PROPOSAL…AND LOOKS AHEAD TO WEDDING
Speaking to The South African, Mark Pilgrim reflected on the moment he proposed to Adrienne Watkins.
He said: “I knew for a while but didn’t know when it was going to happen as I wanted to be home when I proposed. It worked out well as her family was here from England when I got down on one knee.
He added: “She is over the moon with excitement.”
While he may have lost 15 kgs in the hospital and precious quality time with Adrienne and his two daughters from a previous marriage, Mark hopes to make it all up.

Before Adrienne, Mark Pilgrim was married for 13 years to Nicole Torres. The former couple announced their divorce in 2020, and are parents to two daughters: Tayla-Jean and Alyssa.
He added: “My girls love Adrienne. She has two nieces the same age, so she is used to the ‘girl dynamic’. They are usually with us 50% of the time, but obviously, while I’m recovering, they are spending more time with mum.”
Of his wedding plans, Mark added: “I really haven’t thought that far ahead. I would like to be strong enough that I’m standing at the altar!”
GOALS FOR 2023
Besides planning a wedding, Mark Pilgrim revealed his goals for the New Year.
He said: “I want to be well. I want to be healed. I want to be back on radio.”
And with Adrienne and his girls by his side, he is guaranteed to make that a reality.
