SPRINGBOK ON INJURY: ‘IF THIS IS THE END…’

Meanwhile, Steven Kitshoff has given the public an update on his injury and what it possibly means for his career as a Springbok and Stormers player.

Last year, Steven injured his neck during a Western Province Currie Cup game against the Griquas.

The 32-year-old claimed he heard a “snap” in his neck during a scrum. He later confirmed the injury had affected his C1 and C2 vertebrae.

Following the incident, Steven underwent a gruelling surgical operation called a neck fusion,  which essentially fused the injured vertebrae.

According to SA Rugby, Steven Kitshoff has begun his rehabilitation process and is in “no rush” to return to either the Springboks or the Stormers.

He said: “I still have the passion and drive. If it’s not meant to be, I’ll make peace with it, but I haven’t thought beyond next month”.

He added: “I’m proud of what I’ve done – winning the Rugby Championship, URC, and Currie Cup. If this is the end, I’ve made great memories.”
