RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG SPOTTED WITH HIS MOTHER AFTER MTN8 FINAL WIN
Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last night. Lehlohonolo Mojela scored the opening goal just after 12 minutes from the kickoff.
Lehlohonolo Mojela’s bicycle kick was cancelled by Monnapule Saleng’s equaliser in the 43rd minute. The wonderkid won in the 96th minute as he scored the Soweto giants’ third goal.
He netted a beauty as he dribbled past the goalkeeper and his defenders. His goal has since gone viral, with fans flooding social media with praise.
However, Relebohile Mofokeng’s mother was also in the stands to witness the moment. After the game, the two were also spotted sharing their priceless moments as they celebrated Orlando Pirates’ win.
The win earned Jose Riveiro the nickname ‘King of Local Cups.’ In just three seasons, he has won five titles with Orlando Pirates. The titles include:
- MTN8 2022
- Nedbank Cup 2023
- MTN8 2023
- Nedbank Cup 2024
- MTN8 2024
The win also saw Orlando Pirates closing in on Kaizer Chiefs’ overall record of 15 titles. Jose Riveiro’s MTN8 treble has since taken Orlando Pirates’ tally to 13 titles, two shy of Amakhosi.
The Soweto giants were R22 million richer after their big win. The tournament boasts R10 million in prize money. However, the Orlando Pirates earned R12 million more after their win against the Jwaneng Galaxy.
Orlando Pirates earned at least R12 million by qualifying for the Caf Champions League group stages. Advancement to the quarter-finals would swell Pirates’ earnings to R15.6 million.
CAREER
The 19-year-old star started his youth career with Transnet School of Excellence. A few months ago, he topped trends after his photos of him wearing a Mamelodi Sundowns jersey went viral.
However, The South African earlier this year established that Relebohile Mofokeng played for a team that wore a Mamelodi Sundowns jersey—Amandl/Vaal Juventus FC—before joining Orlando Pirates.
In 2022, he joined Orlando Pirates Youth Academy and was promoted to the senior team in 2023. Since then, he has won big and become the club’s poster boy.
Relebohile Mofokeng has since been dubbed the next big star and has wowed many with his flair and command of the game.
In 2023, he hogged headlines after having trials with English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves).
