Rachel Kolisi has been praised by her brother, Joel Smith, for being a great mother to her “four children” – two of them being her ex, Siya Kolisi’s siblings.
The former Springbok couple split less than six months ago and have been making headlines about transitioning their blended family dynamic.
Rachel has been transparent on her social media platforms about both her grieving and healing from her divorce.
RACHEL KOLISI PRAISED BY BROTHER
Over the weekend, Rachel Kolisi posted an honest account of her first Valentine’s Day since her split from Siya.
In it, the philanthropist and influencer revealed that her heart was “breaking all over again” on the day dedicated to love. Rachel also compared parenting during her marriage split to her “world crumbling around her.”
“One day, I hope I’ll never have to experience this again,” she shared.
Under the post, fellow Springbok WAGS left kind comments, showing their love and support for the grieving woman.
Rachel’s brother, Joel Smith, who is married to retired Olympic swimmer Tatjana Smith, also commented.
He said of his sibling: “All four of those kids are very, very lucky to have. you”.
Joel is referring to Siya’s two young siblings, Liphelo and Liyema, who the couple adopted more than a decade ago. The brother and sister were placed in an orphanage after the death of their mother in 2009.
FAMILY BONDS
Although Rachel Kolisi does not share a biological bond with Siya’s siblings, she considers them one of her children.
In December, Rachel took her kids to Australia to spend time with their extended family. She has also posted many photos of her doing regular mom things with Liphelo and Liyema.
In the past, Siya has praised Rachel for embracing both his siblings and his Xhosa culture.
In 2022, he said of his wife: “@rachelkolisi wenza kakhulu [is doing a lot], honestly we wouldn’t be where we are as a family without you! Thank you, Mariri.”
Last year, Rachel reflected on the 10th anniversary of the adoption.
She shared on Instagram: “I was 24 years old, Nic was three months old, Liphelo had just turned 7, and Liyema was 12. 10 years of the greatest gift God could have ever given me”.
