Former University of Cape Town Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng is trending after she took a swipe at music executive Nota Baloyi amid his legal woes.

Earlier this week, social media was abuzz after Itumeleng Bokaba accused Nota Baloyi rape.

NOTA BALOYI ACCUSED OF RAPE

According to reports, the actress opened a case of rape against the controversial music executive and content creator at Douglasdale police station.

The South African has since established that the incident happened at Nota’s place on 4 September. However, contrary to the reports, Nota Baloyi addressed the allegations in several interviews.

The muso admitted sharing the bed with the actress but made it known that it was consensual. Nota Baloyi even went on to leak their chats to prove his innocence.

He made it known that he was being blackmailed. In 2017, the actress contacted Nota Baloyi for contact details of one of the famous hip-hop stars.

Years later, the two started flirting, and house visits were initiated.

Amid his woes, Nota Baloyi took to X, formerly Twitter, for prayers and support from his followers as he turned himself in on 4 October.

The muso posted, “Handing myself in at Randburg police station and hoping for the best. Please keep me in your prayers. This is officially the worst day of my life so far!”

However, the post has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped.

PROFESSOR MAMOKGETHI PHAKENG: ‘NO WICKEDNESS GOES UNPUNISHED’

Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng was one of the celebrities who quickly replied to Nota Baloyi’s prayer plea after handing himself over to the police.

Nota Baloyi’s woes surely caught the attention of academic professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, whom Nota has trolled online several times.

Against the plea of prayers, the professor shared an old post from Nota Baloyi’s reply, which he trolled her. The professor gave the rape suspect some concise lip service.

“Askies boy. O tlo ba sharp. A certain pastor said he came out more mature. I hope you come out knowing that kindness is free and that respect is important.

“No wickedness goes unpunished, and your choices shape your future. Take this time to reflect and grow. We will be there,” she wrote.

Nota Baloyi quickly replied, “Appealing [for the] decency of the elderly is not unkind. Even professors need to be nudged/shamed into behaving better.

As for you quoting a pastor [that] you don’t respect after school kids were turned into thugs and ordered to burn down his church, you explain that at your final resting place!”

However, a few hours later, it was confirmed that the star was arrested against the backdrop of Itumeleng Bokaba’s rape allegations.
