Celebrity doctor Musa Mthombeni has called on “oppressed” white South Africans to take up US President Donald Trump’s offer of seeking asylum abroad.

This comes after the controversial statesman signed an executive order allowing Afrikaaners to “resettle” in America.

Meanwhile, AfriForum – an NGO geared at promoting the rights of Afrikaners – has rejected Trump’s offer.

A day after issuing the order, Donald Trump became a trending topic on social media. As did white South Africans who rejected his offer of asylum.

For the rest of the country, the move was no doubt a slap in the face.

Celebrity doctor Musa Mthombeni tweeted: “If you think you’re ‘suffering’ and are ‘oppressed’ here, please pack your bags and relocate to the US and see what real suffering is.

He added: “Americas with jobs are homeless. Read that again! Literal cost of living crisis in America. Good luck, and see back here soon”.

In another tweet, Musa posted: “I don’t see Mnr SbanBani leaving. His 500 hectare farm to be a refugee in the US. The lies and disinformation has caught up with them”.

Entertainment reporter Phil Mphela had similar sentiments.

He tweeted: “Imagine leaving a country where you are part of the privileged by virtue of just existing and your hue. Imagine relocating to a country where you will have to work four jobs just to pay the bills and won’t even afford healthcare. Good LUCK!”.

Meanwhile, muso Bouwer Bosch made light of Trump’s call to action for white South Africans in a skit…

WHAT DID US PRESIDENT TRUMP SAY?

On Friday, 7 February, Donald Trump signed an executive order freezing all aid to South Africa. He also ordered the U.S. refugee program to prioritise South Africans of “European descent,” i.e., white South Africans.

The controversial president proposed that the US would “promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination.”

In his order, he called on Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to “prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination.”
