Fikile ‘Razzmatazz’ Mbalula claims government has slashed ministerial perks – but does his lavish lifestyle reflect this?

Fikile Mbalula’s claims that ministerial perks have been cut across the cabinet have left many South Africans amused, given his own lavish lifestyle over the years.
The former minister, who headed up the sports, transport, and police departments, even nicknamed himself “Razmatazz” for his flashy show of cash.
FIKILE MBALULA SCOFFS AT CALL TO CUT MINISTERIAL PERKS
In a media briefing on Thursday, 13 March, Fikile Mbalula responded to questions about whether the government had cut ministerial perks in relation to the recent VAT increase.
He said: “It is very easy for anyone to say cut, cut, cut cabinet and all of that, which is fine.
“But will that address the gap between what we want to achieve and what we are facing as a country as we pass this particular budget?”
Fikile claimed that the GNU government had already cut costs of allowances for housing, cars, fights, and other perks.

Yacht life
In January, Fikile courted controversy over a decision for him to be chartered on a private yacht to an ANC anniversary party on Robben Island.
Others, however, were transported on the Robben Island Museum ferry. The ANC later defended the move, claiming that Fikile’s mode of transport.
According to IOL, the yacht belongs to businessman Fernando Acafrao, who has reportedly secured multiple multimillion-rand government contracts.
Flashy cars, and that G-wagon
Over the years, Fikile Mbalula has made headlines for his lavish vehicles, including a BMW 5 Series. According to the DA, the former minister has spent “millions” in “fruitless and wasteful expenditures.”
Last year, the ANC bigwig visited the township of Inanda in a R3 million G-Wagon.

Designer drip at the Rugby World Cup
Fikile was one of several ANC cabinet members who travelled to France to watch the Rugby World Cup final between the Springboks and the All Blacks.
In pics that went viral on social media, Fikile was pictured dressed head-to-toe in designer wear during his trip abroad.

This includes guests like DJ Black Coffee, Oskido, and Julius Malema.
