‘Hope you understand’: Faf family crisis behind trophy tour no-show

Faf de Klerk was one of many Springboks who missed the Durban and East London leg of the Springboks trophy tour.

But the fan favourite has apologised for being a no-show after attending a family funeral.

The pint-size star was a hit with the crowds during the Johannesburg and Cape Town Rugby World Cup celebrations.

FAF DE KLERK SORRY FOR MISSING DURBAN, EL TOUR

In an Instagram Story, Faf de Klerk revealed the real reason behind his trophy tour no-show.

He posted: “I just want to apologise to every fan that was at the trophy tour in Durban and East London.”

He added: “I was at a family funeral and had to be there for my family. Hope everyone understands”.

Faf’s absence was a sore point for many fans who showed up in numbers to see him.

“Durban was robbed”, one tweep posted.

Faf de Klerk was not the only noticeable Springbok missing in action.

Siya Kolisi missed Durban’s tour to attend a family wedding, while Cheslin Kolbe missed both Durban and East London over his 30th birthday celebrations.

Handre Pollard – whose wife Marise announced her pregnancy on Sunday – missed both events.
