Beyonce and Jay-Z had a night out for their first public appearance since Jay-Z’s case regarding rape allegations was dismissed in February 2025. The two were seen sombre in the pictures shared by media outlets.
Where did Beyonce and Jay-Z go for their first public appearance?
According to PEOPLE, photographers captured Beyoncé and Jay-Z together on 16 March 2025 in West Hollywood, and the publication obtained pictures of their date night.
This appearance comes weeks after a lawsuit accusing Jay-Z of rape was dropped.
The details behind the dismissal of the case
The accusations in the now-dismissed case were that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13 years old girl in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party. This is according to BBC.
PEOPLE has also obtained court documents that show how the case’s dismissal was filed by the victim’s attorneys, Tony Buzbee and Antigone Curis.
The dismissal states that Jane Doe, who made the accusations, voluntarily dismisses the case with prejudice.
Cornell Law School says, “dismissal with prejudice means that the plaintiff cannot refile the same claim again in that court.”
How did Jay-Z react?
After the victim’s attorneys dismissed the case, Jay-Z shared a statement through his company RocNation’s X account celebrating the event.
In the statement, the rapper wrote, “Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone.”

Jay-Z legal response
In March 2025, Jay-Z then filed a defamation lawsuit against his unnamed accuser.
In the lawsuit, the rapper alleged that the claim made against him was “strategically and tactically calculated and time to inflict maximum pain and suffering.” He also claimed that the lawsuit against him was “false” and “malicious.”
He then proposed three causes of action against all defendants: malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy.
According to Thomson Reuters, a cause of action is “the legal claim [a claim that sometimes goes unstated] that allows a party to seek judicial relief.”
How fans reacted to the couple’s outing?
Fans reacted very strongly when they saw the pictures obtained by PEOPLE of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s first public appearance.
