A Canadian TikToker has issued a scathing clapback to South African-born Elon Musk over his comments about the country. This comes amid a petition by hundreds of thousands of Canadians who have called on the government to revoke Elon’s citizenship.
Elon has default citizenship from his mother, Maye, who was born in the country.
CANADIAN CLAPS BACK AT ELON MUSK
In a TikTok, @shamlesselle posted a message directed at Elon Musk after his tweet that “Canada is not a real country.”
She said: “That’s interesting. We were a country enough for you when you were 17, and you wanted to avoid that mandatory military service in South Africa, weren’t we? We were good then, weren’t we?
She sarcastically continued: “Times change. Don’t worry. We’re working on revoking that non-existent Canadian citizenship as we speak.
“I’m really curious: How many countries would sign up to take Elon Musk when you burn those bridges in the US?

The TikToker is referring to a petition started by Canadians, which currently has close to 400 000 signatures calling on the government to revoke Elon Musk’s citizenship.
The petition – addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – has stated that Elon has acted against Canada’s national interest and undermined its sovereignty. It also claims that the world’s richest man has used his wealth and power to influence their elections.
Elon left his home in Pretoria, South Africa, to seek solace in Canada, allegedly over his bid to avoid joining the Apartheid military service through conscription, which was a mandatory two-year service for white males.
SOUTH AFRICANS WEIGH IN TOO
In the comments section of TikTok, many Canadians criticised Elon Musk’s shady tweet about their country.
Unsurprisingly, many South Africans also weighed in, distancing themselves from the world’s richest and most controversial man.
