NONDUMISO TEMBE’S SWEET TRIBUTE TO HER SISTER
According to posts from rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known by his stage name AKA and Nondumiso Tembe, today is Nelli Tembe’s birthday. While it has been reported all year long that Nelli is 22 years old, she would have only turned 22 today, as she was born in 1999.
This was probably because her birthday was unknown, until the tributes poured in today (11 October). Nelli was the fiancée of AKA. She passed away just two weeks after he paid lobola for her. Nelli was more than the woman behind AKA, she was also a chef who studied at the Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine. AKA paid tribute to his late fiancée on her birthday by dropping the song Tears Run Dry.
Her older sister, Nondumiso shared a sweet post wishing she was still here.
“Nana,I knew this day would be hard. Your first birthday without you here with us. ????. How I wish I could hold you in my arms now as I did this day. I love you. Always. Psalm 23 ????????????,” she wrote on Instagram.

WHAT HAPPENED TO NELLI?
The chef plunged to her death from the tenth floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on 11 April. At the time Nelli and AKA were on vacation in the Western Cape. AKA claimed that he was in the bathroom when the 22-year-old allegedly jumped.
“Things took a turn for the worse where Anele kind of threatened to kill herself, jump off the balcony. She didn’t say it in those words though,” said AKA.
“When I came out of the bathroom she wasn’t in the room. I look around the room and she’s not there then I go to the balcony and look over the balcony and down to the street and that’s where she was,” he continued.
In July, City Press reported that the case of her death was reopened. The publication reported that this was standard procedure when the deceased dies of “unnatural causes”. AKA’s name was reportedly cleared in the case as he detailed other times she attempted to commit suicide, such as threatening to jump out of a moving car and another attempt at the Hilton Hotel in Durban.
