Despite heavy downpours the Bulls vs Stormers game at Loftus Versfeld Stadium went ahead on Saturday, 1 March – and it’s mostly thanks to fans.

The visiting club beat the home side 19- 16 at the muddy venue.

BULLS VS STORMERS: SUPPORTERS HELP DRAIN THE PITCH

On Saturday evening, officials delayed the Bulls vs Stormers game several times amid the heavy rainfall.

Whilst the players waited for the rain to subside, eager fans took to the pitch to help drain the water-logged grounds.

In clips posted on social media, teams from both clubs assisted the ground staff in sweeping excess water off the pitch.

“It’s about the game, the gees. Everything helps to make this game happen”, one fan told SuperSport. The channel hailed the volunteers the “unsung heroes of Loftus.”

PITCH INVADERS HAVE FUN TOO!

Bulls and Stormers volunteers weren’t the only fans who got down and dirty on the pitch at Loftus Versfeld. Several pitch invaders had security slipping and sliding in the mud as they provided live entertainment for spectators.

The brazen invaders dived into the flooded field and had to be tackled by officials in raincoats!
