Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) arrested an alarming number of drunk drivers last week.
According to the Arrive Alive website, JMPD officers apprehended 188 motorists in the seven days between Monday, 17 and Sunday, 23 March for driving under the influence of alcohol.
That’s an average or nearly 27 per day.
‘Be responsible’
It goes without reminding South Africans that this reckless act endangers lives.
Motorists have been reminded to be responsible: If you’re drinking, don’t drive!
Rather choose a designated driver or alternative transport.
With the upcoming school holidays, more cars than normal are expected to be on the roads.
